On August 11, 1999 there was a total eclipse of the sun visible from Cornwall, where we always took our holidays. We booked up years in advance, and were in the right place at the right time. The weather was unkind, the sky was dark, got a bit darker and then went back to dark. It was visible some places in Cornwall, just not where we were.
The next total eclipse was June 21, 2001 visible in Zimbabwe and Zambia. So we utilised all possible methods, and got a two week holiday at a Safari Lodge in Victoria Falls Zimbabwe. Not only did we see the eclipse, we saw loads of wild life and beautiful places.

Here are pictures of some of the animals we saw.
We saw so many: the lioness was no distance from the vehicle we were in, and paid us no notice.
The warthogs by the brai were very friendly, At one time they came right up to where we were sitting and nuzzled my feet. There were many different species of antelope types. I don't know what the long nosed animal in the second picture on the left is. We wnt on a river trip on the Zambezi, where we say hippopotamuses and a massive crocodile, but those photos didn't come out right, See next page.
