On August 11, 1999 there was a total eclipse of the sun visible from Cornwall, where we always took our holidays. We booked up years in advance, and were in the right place at the right time. The weather was unkind, the sky was dark, got a bit darker and then went back to dark. It was visible some places in Cornwall, just not where we were.
The next total eclipse was June 21, 2001 visible in Zimbabwe and Zambia. So we utilised all possible methods, and got a two week holiday at a Safari Lodge in Victoria Falls Zimbabwe. Not only did we see the eclipse, we saw loads of wild life and beautiful places.

This is us in the field to view from.
There were several men there who worked on the land, but the women were frightened and kept their children indoors in case they looked at the sun.
